I do not recommend flying into the Pensacola Airport if you are staying in the eastern areas of Destin such as Miramar Beach and Sandestin because the traffic could be bad getting through in all those popular beach towns along the way. If you are staying in the Destin Harbor area, Okaloosa Island, Fort Walton Beach, or Navarre then the Pensacola Airport could be a great second option for you if you can’t fly into VPS.

Thanks to Allegiant Airlines, the Destin-Fort Walton Beach VPS Airport will have the most options for nonstop flights. Nonstop Flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) I recommended renting a car over a ride-share option in most cases though because Uber and Lyft are still somewhat unreliable with inconsistent availability on the Emerald Coast.
